Tetbury Music Festival
Tetbury Music Festival welcomes some of the finest classical musicians to the Cotswolds each year. The 2018 festival will take place from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 October and include performances from the Dante Quartet, violinist Matthew Trusler and pianist Ashley Wass, the pianist Benjamin Grosvenor and the Instruments of Time and Truth. The Festival was founded in 2003 by Graham Kean and its President, Elise Smith OBE.
The Tetbury Woolsack Festival, held on the second May Bank Holiday, traces its roots back to the 17th Century. Runners tackle the town’s steepest hill – Gumstool Hill – carrying a heavy woolsack. With packed streets full of stalls, festivity and fun, the event, which has featured in the Guinness Book of records, also raises money for local charities.
Wobbly wagons and crazy carts take over Tetbury when the seventh annual Wacky Races comes to the Cotswolds, complete with family fun and prizes for the winners.
Those with a need for speed can enter this thrilling annual soapbox event, navigating their way around hairpin bends and meandering down the course in Tetbury’s Wacky Races.
Prizes are on offer for every entrant who triumphantly completes all three courses as well as a special prize for the best-looking design, and shields for the winners of each category too.
In addition to the thrills and spills on the track, there will be plenty of family fun and refreshments on offer.
Badminton Horse Trials
The Badminton Horse Trials take place each May. The event is staged within the beautiful grounds of the Badminton Estate in South Gloucestershire.
With an array of over 500 trade stands opening for business this annual spectacle offers a great family day out, with children and dogs very welcome to enjoy great hospitality options, shopping, top level equestrian sport and more in a stunning location.
The International competition kicks off on a Wednesday with the horse inspection in the afternoon as well as the cross country culmination of the ‘amateur’ eventing competition of the Mitsubishi Motors Cup.
The event continues with Dressage on the Thursday and Friday before the thrills and spills of the Cross Country phase on the Saturday. Sunday is the culmination of the competition and is a Show Jumping test over knock down arena jumps.
Gatcombe Horse Trials
This renowned Horse Trials event takes place in August each year within the grounds of Gatcombe Park the spectacular home of the Princess Royal and her family and incorporates the British Open, Intermediate and Novice Championships.
It also offers a weekend of top class shopping’s in its dedicated shopping village along with arena attractions and entertainment for all the family.
Tetbury Classic Car Show
Tetbury Classic Car Show is a one day event held each year in either August or September. This event showcases a fantastic array of Classic Cars, Motorcycles, Light Commercial Vehicles and Buses. There is plenty for all of the family to do with Children’s Entertainment, BBQ, Bar and Club Stands.
